The scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file is a web-friendly vector format developed for designing 2D graphics. It has enhanced support for animation, interactivity, and transparency. Unlike bitmapped raster file formats like JPEGs, SVG files use commands or mathematical formulas to store images in gridlines and points. The benefits of SVG are that its images are scalable without losing image quality, making them ideal for high-resolution displays and responsive web designs. The SVG format compresses images using XML code and the Gzip algorithm, resulting in smaller files. Besides, metadata stored as literal texts enables its contents to be easily indexed, searched, and retrieved.
Adobe Illustrator Artwork (AI) is a vector file format developed by Adobe Systems to represent single- or multi-page vector graphics. Unlike raster files made from pixels, vector files maintain resolution when scaled because they are based on mathematical paths defined by points, curves, and lines. This format uses paths instead of bitmap image data, making it ideal for designs that need to be resized without losing quality. Because of their small file size and scalability, AI files are widely used by designers and illustrators.
To convert files from SVG to AI use an online tool that supports mass conversion, like Convertjack. Such a tool transforms single or bulk images at once to save time.
Go to Choose File, and select any SVG photos you want to convert. If you want to do a bulk conversion, click Choose File and select all the SVG pics you want to convert.
After uploading the SVG image, click the “Select Format” button at the center. A drop-down menu will pop up; select AI.
On the bottom right corner of the display, click the “Convert” button. Your converted AI file will be ready for download.
Click the “Download” button on the right side of the AI file, and the converted image will be downloaded. If you convert multiple files, each file will have a “Download all” button in front of it, and you can click each button to download all the converted files.
To save a SVG file as a AI file, you first convert it to AI and then download it.
Instead of converting a file manually from SVG to AI, use an online tool like Convertjack to convert the file without losing any details.
After converting the SVG file, Download the AI file and save it in the default folder for all your downloads on the desktop or mobile.
One of the advantages of AI is its compatibility with various professional software applications, particularly in graphic design and printing. AI supports scalable vector graphics, making it ideal for preserving image quality when designs need to be resized. The main disadvantage of SVG is that it is not well-suited for representing complex images like photographs, which are better handled by raster formats. Converting SVG to AI can be beneficial when working in professional design environments requiring advanced editing features in Adobe Illustrator.
