What is PNG?
PNG is a raster file format that stands for Portable Network Graphics. PNG files are used in high-quality image display because they support lossless compression. They are also supported by all popular editing software and web browsers, making them one of the most popular file formats.
What is CDR?
A CDR file is created by CorelDRAW. It contains vector image data, lines, paths, shapes, and colors; it can also include text, raster images, and effects. CDR files are used to create posters, logos, web banners, and brochures. Although they are natively supported by CorelDRAW, they can also be opened by Corel PHOT-PAINT with limited editing rights.

Why Convert PNG to CDR?
There are many reasons to convert PNG files to CDR. Here are five that may initiate the conversion.
- Making the files scalable: One property of PNG is that its quality is lost when scaled up. To avoid this, users may convert PNG files to a vector-based format like CDR that allows scaling without losing quality.
- Making the files editable: When users want to edit a file in detail, they convert it from PNG, which does not allow detailed editing, to CDR, which allows complete editing of shapes, lines, and colors in their native editing app (CorelDRAW).
- Professional printing: When editing high-quality files, users usually prefer vector files due to their ability to maintain clarity and sharpness. Therefore, converting PNG to CDR is crucial under this circumstance.
- Designers: Users prefer integrating vector files with other objects. This forces them to convert any raster file, like PNG, to CDR, compatible with a professional design workflow tool like CorelDRAW.
- Customization: Raster images like PNG are considered flat images because they do not support advanced features like layering, gradients, and effects. This is why users prefer converting them to CDR format.
