PPM means Portable Pixmap Format, a simple image file format that stores pixel data in binary or ASCII format, identified by the .ppm extension. It is used to store color images in a straightforward, uncompressed manner. Although the PPM format is not widely used today and is not natively supported by many standard Windows applications, it remains popular in specific niches like academic research and image processing due to its simplicity. Various software, including GIMP and IrfanView, can open and convert PPM files.
PNG is a short form for Portable Network Graphics. It is used for lossless image compression, which minimizes the loss of image data during compression. The advantages of PNG include its support for a wide range of colors, such as grayscale, indexed color, and true color, which are crucial in high-quality digital image display. Due to its accessibility across all image editing software and web browsers, PNG file type is one of the most popular formats with a wide range of applications.

After converting the PPM file, Download the PNG file and save it in the default folder for all your downloads on the desktop or mobile.
One of the advantages of PNG is its ability to provide lossless compression, which retains image quality while reducing file size compared to uncompressed formats like PPM. The main disadvantage of PPM is that its larger file size and uncompressed nature make it less practical for storage, sharing, or quick access. Therefore, converting PPM images to PNG is useful when smaller file sizes are needed for sharing or web use.
