JPG is also called JPEG, which stands for Joint Photographic Expert Group. JPG format is known for its ability to reduce the file size of an image while maintaining a reasonable level of quality, making it easier to share and store digital images. This is achieved through a lossy compression process, which discards some of the data in the original image. JPG is famous for photographs and web graphics because it balances file size and image quality.
The ARW file extension stands for Sony Alpha Raw, meaning that the file is a Sony raw image. ARW files are raw photos created by Sony camera models. They contain all the data your camera recorded when taking the photo and can include extra information like GPS data if available. ARW files typically contain a single photo and are usually much smaller than 1 or 2 GB, though file sizes vary.
To convert files from JPG to ARW use an online tool that supports mass conversion, like Convertjack. Such a tool transforms single or bulk images at once to save time.
Go to Choose File, and select any JPG photos you want to convert. If you want to do a bulk conversion, click Choose File and select all the JPG pics you want to convert.
After uploading the JPG image, click the “Select Format” button at the center. A drop-down menu will pop up; select ARW.
On the bottom right corner of the display, click the “Convert” button. Your converted ARW file will be ready for download.
Click the “Download” button on the right side of the ARW file, and the converted image will be downloaded. If you convert multiple files, each file will have a “Download all” button in front of it, and you can click each button to download all the converted files.
To save a JPG file as a ARW file, you first convert it to ARW and then download it.
Instead of converting a file manually from JPG to ARW, use an online tool like Convertjack to convert the file without losing any details.
After converting the JPG file, Download the ARW file and save it in the default folder for all your downloads on the desktop or mobile.
One of the advantages of ARW files is that they preserve the original raw image data, making them ideal for non-destructive editing. This allows users to adjust parameters like white balance, exposure, and contrast without permanently affecting the original data. The main disadvantage of JPG is its lossy compression, which can degrade image quality, especially with repeated saves. JPGs are also limited in storing extensive metadata and detailed image information. Therefore, when preserving image quality and extensive metadata is a priority, working directly with ARW files is more effective.
